Cape Marigold (African Daisy) is an old, popular variety. These low-growing, sun-loving plants produce abundant, brightly coloured daisy-like flowers in shades of orange, yellow and white — perfect for borders, rockeries, containers and mass displays. They’re drought-tolerant, fast to establish and give a long, cheerful seasonal show that’s ideal for beginner and experienced gardeners alike.

Sow indoors in February–March at 15–22 °C in trays or small pots. Lightly cover seeds (surface sow or up to 0.5 cm) and keep the compost evenly moist with bright light. Prick out seedlings after 3–6 weeks and harden off before transplanting. Transplant to greenhouse or under plastic at the end of April; after mid-May you can also plant outdoors in a sunny, sheltered site. Flowering typically starts 6–10 weeks after sowing and continues through late spring into summer (May–September).
